Get to know more about iCharity
We are a group of Malaysian volunteers working for the less fortunate ummah. We are non-profit. Our programs have covered parts of Asean, Africa, Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. We aim to empathize and be involved in their welfare and caring for them. Ours is AN INVESTMENT FOR AKHIRAH.
The Beginning
After our fact-finding journey into the Cambodian interior for an insight of the living conditions of the ummah after Khmer Rouge atrocities and sufferings of the 1975-79 civil war, a war which dramatically changed the landscape and lives of Cambodian people, we felt an urgency to help those who fled to the hills and countryside to escape the tyranny of the Khmer Rouge. More importantly, our efforts were to ensure the ummah keep their faith, and not resort to seeking welfare aid from non-Islamic missionaries.
Working with Noble Educare Services Sdn Bhd and Islamic Medical Association of Cambodia (IMAC), we assisted in uplifting living conditions of several families in the Cambodian interior, helped them to overcome their immediate challenges, become self-supporting and not dependent on foreign missionaries and NGOs who were rushing into Cambodia to help and also spread their faith. In ten years we built 11 masjids and 14 madrasahs in villages needing places of worship and centres for basic education. We dug water wells and installed pumps which now provide clean water to more than 800 schools and villages in Cambodia and Pakistan. We also funded needy students through college.
Working with other NGOs, we completed several amal jariah projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, Philippines, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Turkey.
Registration With ROS
With a large portfolio of projects and appeals for more assistance, it was time for this group to be registered as a formal Society with Registrar of Societies. After an inaugural meeting on July 2, 2017, we agreed on registering with ROS to enable it to function as a legal entity, operate accounts and undertake more projects as a bona fide grouping.
Registration with Registrar of Societies was approved and “Persatuan Kebajikan ICharity” became full-fledged NGO on 16 August 2017. With ROS registration the informal grouping which functioned under the Noble Educare Services Sdn Bhd umbrella was effectively disbanded.
